Recycling aluminium cans.

Cans might just be the easiest containers to recycle. Made entirely of aluminium with no labels they are quick to process and recycle. They’re also among the most common containers with over 2 billion cans recycled in Australia every year.

Envirobank accepts all aluminium cans that are eligible for the container deposit scheme refund. Coke cans, Red Bull cans, beer cans — did someone say ‘tinny’? — we don’t care, as long as they display a 10¢ symbol.

Envirobank sorts cans to get them ready for collection by one of our local processing partners. Typically, the aluminium is then heated to 700°C, melted down, cast, and sold to manufacturers who mill the raw product into more aluminium cans, among other things.
